WAA only does a small amount of shorting. I cannot recall if Geoff Wilson ever said they would be a major shorter.
Australian Leaders (ALF)is another company, of which Geoff Wilson is a director, that does a significant amount of shorting. ALF is controlled by Justin Braitling, who borrows stock to sell & uses that cash to invest in more appealing companies. This has never been a major tactic of WAA.

WAA, as at 31 Dec., had 16,176,213 shares on issue & in paying a 4.5c dividend (not $1.05) would expend $727,929.80.
Their equity was $16,055,911 & after the dividend it would be about $15,327,981 or 94.756c per share.
The market has since improved so the current figure would be in excess of that figure.
