I made a post before hoping there'd be some discussion regrading whether our market should be following the US lead or not - but doesn't matter I'll restate it here.

Our market follows the US market(as we know) and has risen in unison with it since and before the collapse ... but our currency as we know is also strengthening against the US currency right now - so our market (if you take into account our dollar fell to around 60 cents during the recent share market collapse).. has actually risen by a factor of 1.6 to 1 compared to the US market since the recent collapse based on the AUD/USD exchange rate and our roaring/soaring dollar.

When a US company now reports it has made a US $100 mill profit .. that's only a $105 mill profit in AUD terms .. compared to AUD $160mill when our dollar was at 60 cents .. so from our perspective the US market and its companies are going down the gurgler in real terms .. yet our market has still risen? .. why ?
