    Hi Anndy. Are you aware of "Cresent Dunes" in Nevada that uses reflected sunlight to melt silicon salts for heat storage?

    This heat source is then used 24/7 to generate Gwatts of electricity.

    World wide there are more than 10 sites with more being built, surely these must be an efficient way to store energy for 24/7 electircal energy production, for this substanial investment.I understand that battery storage for this magnitude of energy would be 10 fold in size and with limited life span.

    As an aside the enviromentalists are now complaining about these sites with regard to the numbers of native birds that are being vapourised when flying through the reflected beams.

    As to your Hydrogen production comment, it uses more energy to generate H than is produced. Also cost of storing H for later use adds additional costs. Aside from its green potential it is not economic as a form of energy storage.
