All the fanboys & gals here seem to forget that ten just wrote off their entire FTA TV portfolio as having zero value.

There is massive market funk surrounding all legacy media ATM and it's pretty hard to see that changing anytime soon. The 'Digital Transformation', once hyped as the future of TV and radio in this country, hasn't produced meaningful results. On the contrary, I would argue that actively encouraging, your once captive, audience to experience online streaming platforms, has simply served to further dilute markets and muddy the waters.

Ten Capital is likely to be the first victim, but unless Nine and Seven can find ways to retain, let alone grow, market share, they too are going to find themselves in a situation where rising transmission and operating costs increasingly act as an anchor around their waists.

Personally, I think we'll have to see significant consolidation in the FTA TV space. Australia can no longer support three commercial TV networks, all with seperate studio & transmission networks.

Ten will go first. Whether this is through an amalgamation or parent Company bankruptcy, only time will tell. This may kick the can down the road a little for Nine & Seven, but ultimately even they will be forced to amalgamate imo.

Mark my words, we'll eventually see only one National commercial FTA TV network in Australia, and even that will struggle to exist under mounting competition from International media organisations and rising input costs.
