Brightoil, you put up a lot of good posts however I as a trainee in G&O drilling, I can still give you a tip.
Before you drill a hole again through metal, use a container of water to cool the bit, or go to Bunnings and purchase some drill bit lube. If you see smoke, thats bad, as is odd sounds or vibrations, same for pieces of drill bit flighing around the garage.
As you keep mentioning a broken drill bit!
