I have tried to help my family with these programs but it always turns into an amazingly tortured and complex process - every aspect of the program (My Aged Care, in particular) seems to be outsourced to a different private bureaucracy that doesn't talk to the other bits of the system. Whoever designed this system (and I assume it was a committee) seems to want to use this complexity as a barrier to entry. You have to be very determined to get a fair result. Sometimes you just sit back, totally gobsmacked by the cost and waste of it all, especially as the owners of these companies are multi-millionaires based on the cream they skim. My mum is 90, left school at 15 and has never had an administrative job in her life. Watching her try to deal with the system is frustrating and saddening.
