That's a legitimate fear, for sure. I'm heartened by this Government's apparent willingness to crack the regulatory whip over those making big bucks in privatised care (eg. NDIS). Since my own parents' care home was privatised a few years ago, the service levels have dropped outrageously (despite assurances to the contrary). There is now no Doctor or Registered Nurse on campus and emergency calls from their "Independent Living" units go to a call centre in New Zealand (!). Maintenance has dropped to almost nothing. The My Aged Care system is even worse, with services (like cleaning) being charged at outrageous rates (while paying the workers minimum wage). Basically, I think there is fat in the system being siphoned off by the large corporations (many OS based) that have moved in to the sector specifically to rort the Australian taxpayer, the elderly and the vulnerable. I suspect the same is happening in the subsidised childcare sector.

Hi Jack Yes. The level of bureaucracy in NDIS and aged care packages is mind boggling. I suspect some like 50% of allotted funds are swallowed up in the “squanderous” (my word lol) process of deciding how the remaining 50% gets distributed. I has witnessed it all with my wife stepping in to help 3 in her family get care and assistance over the past 4 years. Dex
