a) most Australian homes don't have basements, so the joke really would work better in North America. But no one there would use it..they saw what happened!
b) It's kind of a spruik/fear thing. Belittle renters by suggesting we all live in our parents basement. This despite my briefly mentioning my living arrangments, and the location of my parents in previous posts. Better to keep chanting a false mantra when you have no solid arguments.
I guess it is hard watching renters laugh as the median price goes down 10.4% in real terms...that's a 50k loss on a median priced property :(
