If you believed the value of the stock post return would exceed 3c, or that the capital return might increase above 12c following the ATO tax ruling.
I hadn't realised that the exercise date for the options was sooner than the record date for the capital return. So the whole question is moot and the exercising of the options will depend only on the share price by the exercise date.
