Excellent article. Thanks for posting. I can only hope that people read it and understand what their investment dollar does for the nuclear industry as well.

Personally I believe the real solution to our addiction to power is to decentralize and generate the power through sustainable and environmentally friendly means ourselfs. For example, if every house had a wind turbine on their roofs, this would substantially decrease the load on mains power as well as solar technology(which has gained in efficiency over the past 5 years significantly). With these two simple solutions and a battery storage system, combined with reasonable energy conservation(example, not leaving the TV running if you arnt watching it and using the wind to dry your clothes instead of a dryer) we could change the way power companies think they have to provide electricy to us.

I might also mention that a huge amount of energy generated by the power companies connected to national and metropolitan grids is lost during the transfer process. Decentralization would cut this loss out completely making the energy production process much more efficient.
