Absolute BS!!!!!!. I did 18 months national service. In the first 10 weeks I was taught to march, salute and fire weapons. How much of that do I use now??. Then 10 weeks of basic "how to use a radio along with more marching". Followed by a year of drinking with hard core regular soldiers, more marching.
It was made very clear that 18 months or 2 years would NOT be used to train any of us for jobs outside of the army unless you wanted to be a truck driver. That was the only occupation available to us nashos. Meanwhile we all wasted 18 months that would have been used to study or be half way through our apprenticeship for a real job.
At what cost..............Billions of dollars spent for zero return.
Voting should be optional for those 16-18 and over 75. That way those that understand and take a real interest can have a say.
