Flaw? I am a flawed individual. But as to instos having shares, a simple look at the share registry tells me that they do. That level of research is not so hard. Have a look at the share registry where you will find many institutions holding FAR shares. Where is my flaw?

Gambling with other peoples money?? Again, this is the anecdotal rubbish that proliferates on HC. Banks invest in companies using their discretionary capital. That is capital that ultimately derives from its shareholders. Those shareholders know that banks trade in Capital, FX, Interest Rates, Commodities, Mortgage and Equity markets. If they don't know that, they should not be investing.
