To address just one of your claims: "US banks are going bankrupt yet Aus banks have not"
So far this year just 0.06% of 1% of the 4,844 commercials insured banks in the US have run into financial difficulties requiring intervention.
If the same percentage of Australia's 95 banks went broke .... well, I'm not sure how a tiny fraction of one bank can go broke ....
And a quick Google search shows that the average capital adequacy ratio of Australian banks is about 3 percent higher than the average US bank which is a lot.
Like most traditional banks WBC faces a number of challenges. Solvency risk is not one of them.
