in over 50 years much has indeed changed cappie. good post btw.
increased population, increased over-crowding in cities, increased hostility toward "other" groups in the community, rivalries between crim gangs and religious sects, increased political culture wars, dramatically ramped up during elections, increased imprisonment.....
all lead to increased anger and powerlessness, frustration and a sense of futility in the community and so increased defensive posturing and risk of violence. add in increasing incidence of alcohol/drug intoxication and mental illness (the primary trigger in the Bondi attack) and we have a perfect condition for increased aggro.
its not political. its a artefact of the culture.
