I'm not sure who or what has triggered this, but it is becoming a daily news story that there has been a stabbing. It feels like it is getting worse but as a youth I saw a knife come out three times in violent situations. Twice were threats to kill and once we actually had to barricade another guy in the room of a house because the offender was deadset trying to get to him to kill him. The last incident was eventually brought under control by a police dog.
I'm not sure what's going on in society but appears that as a whole we are a lot more emotional and prone to acting out without thinking.
