New Zealand Prime Minister, Rt Hon John Key, performed the official opening proceedings for Bathurst's new office in Wellington in an event attended by parliamentarians and key New Zealand stakeholders. The Prime Minister acknowledged Bathurst's operations as an important economic activity in New Zealand. Bathurst Resources says the opening of its Wellington office is further demonstration of its long-term commitment to New Zealand. "Many of our stakeholders, including customers, the Government and environmental groups, are located in Wellington and it's very important for us to be close to them as we develop our projects," Managing Director Hamish Bohannan said. The company's operational functions will be run out of Wellington supported by a small corporate head office in Perth. Bathurst also has project offices in New Zealand's South Island at Westport and Nightcaps and a coal handling and distribution centre in Timaru.
