There is some correlation due to differing asset class and liquidity.
On risk adjusted terms cash yield outperformed equities late 2021, all of 20222 and early 2023.
As you say it works inversely as well - risk adjusted terms equity yields and future returns are more attractive than the 5% USD cash yield
