scooter, the very first tenet of DOW theory is that the market discounts everything. The market is composed of thousands of investors including those with the greatest insight and foresight. The market discounts everything known and everything foreseeable and everthing affecting the supply and demand of the security.
So when you look at the chart the market has already accounted for buybacks and mergers.
