You are right Marum IMHO Although there are various forms of investment and at time one or the other can be better The problem is if you dabble in other area's you have to put huge amounts of work in to know and manage your investment So Real Estate is the best investment for 80% of people, buy in an area you are familiar with, and close to where you live or work, so that it is east to monitor, and the only real danger is over-gearing and being compelled to buy and sell on a set time frame, do this and rarely go wrong You have to do some work also but it is relatively easy to study the relevant laws and understand them and remember if an agent manages it for you that they work for you so be prepared to act like the boss, also keep your property in good condition by doing maintenance immediately when it is required

You are correct about R/E salespeople. They are usually mendacious a'holes, who are inherently lazy. That is why they are in sales in the first place. One has to be constantly alert, to keep them honest, and to make sure they do the job you pay them for. From experience....Marum.
