COMMENCEMENT OF APPEAL HEARING IN THE ENVIRONMENT COURT OF NEW ZEALAND

Bathurst Resources Limited's (ASX & NZX: BTU) is pleased to advise that the
hearing of the substantive appeal against the granting of the resource
consents for the Escarpment Mine Project has begun today in Christchurch, New
Zealand.

The Court has set aside 4 weeks for the hearing plus a 2 week break. The
final week of the hearing is scheduled to be 3rd to 7th December, 2012.
