You can love your country, be in fact (if you so desire) a good patriot and at the same time be also a Zionist.
and no...You don't have to be wealthy to be a zionist...It's a matter of heart, not pocket. I am (unofficially, since I do not belong to any Zionist Organisation) a Zionist...I love The Nation of Israel. And no...I am not a wealthy man.

***By way of digression: Theodore Herzl who founded modern Zionism (1895) was not a Banker...Nor was he a wealthy man...He was in fact an Austrian-Jew Journalist........
He had however seen the injustice and persecutions of the Jewish People in many European Countries and he decided to found the Movement for The Establishment Of The Jewish Movement for a "National Home" in The Judea......
