FNB BOTSWANA IMPLEMENTS IMX SOFTWARE

[Johannesburg, 15 April 2002] - In a drive to deliver market-leading customer service and streamlined business processes, First National Bank of Botswana (FNB Botswana) is implementing a retail foreign exchange system from IMX Software.

IMX Software is the global leader in retail foreign exchange solutions with more than 80 customers in 10 countries. The FNB Botswana implementation is being done by IMX South Africa, the regional office of IMX Software Australia.

“IMX SA offered us a one-stop solution combining the rich capabilities of their product with comprehensive integration services. This allowed us to achieve an aggressive implementation programme - from contract signature in November 2001 to an integrated installation in March 2002,” says Alex Park, Assistant Managing Director, FNB Botswana.

FNB Botswana chose the ISS front-office product for its branches and dealing room, and IMX BackOffice for rate management, centralised administration and control and management reporting.

“It is vital to our business that we are able to respond rapidly to the volatility in the market,” says Eddie Rall, Head of Treasury, FNB Botswana. “The IMX system allows us to have real-time updates of our currency exposure and provides us with a consolidated view of stock holdings in our branches. We offer a full range of retail forex products, including travellers cheques, foreign cash, drafts and money transfers - all core products within the IMX software. In addition, we have created products specific to our Treasury Department using the product configuration facility in the package.”

IMX SA configured the software for FNB Botswana’s business rules, assisted in the re-design of business processes, developed all required product extensions and provided project management and training.

The IMX team is currently on-site in Botswana, finalising installations at the last of the rural branches - a task which is expected to be complete by mid-April 2002.
