I remember 1954 vividly because I lived in Brisbane and and flood waters rose to the fence of my grandfather's house and I watched it come. There was a severe cyclone and floods also occurred in Lismore, a very flood prone city. So I found this list of weather events around the world in that year fascinating. Familiar territory?
