Darkroom, that sounds like a perfectly reasonable way to translate Mathew 18:7 as well. The word 'offences' is apt. The Bible foretold in a number of places that the leadership of God's people would become causes for offence and be in need of severe discipline. Zephaniah 3:8-11 speaks of a time when Jehovah pours out his indignation upon the nations as well as his own people whereby he will remove the 'haughty boasters' from among them. Jesus was a humble man , yet he never needed to say sorry, because he never became a cause for offence. He did offend people, but only for speaking the truth and these people were not comfortable with the truth, in fact they were enemies of the truth. Sadly the Watchtower has not felt the need to say sorry, even though a member of the governing body told the Australian Child Abuse Royal Commission that they might consider financially compensating victims of child sexual abuse. If they are able to financially compensate victims , could they also apologise for a policy of not reporting crimes against children? I doubt they will ever do either of those 2 things ,they never have in the past, which is why God will set matters straight.
