There's certainly some validity. Pasminco went bust. Has any equivalent gold miner gone bust in years? The likes of a Newmont or a Barrick?

There's certainly some validity to the argument that gold will not enter a bull market until:

1. Governments have sold most of their gold because they see gold as a useless underperforming commodity, not a currency.

2. Exploration has halted because it is no longer economic to mine gold.

3. At least one major world gold miner has put its mining operations on care/maintenance or gone bust.

4. This would need the gold price to drop below US$200.
