I don't use stop losses....because I am fully committed and thoroughly research the company before I invest. This is a more sound than the stop loss.

To spell it out to the uninitiated:

The danger with stop losses? someone can artificially force the price down by selling a large volume to trigger the stop loss, so they can buy your shares on the cheap! This only SEEMS like a lucky escape thanks to the safety net of the stop loss...that is until the share price begins to march north, and you realise...uh oh. I've been HAD!!

Like kakoii, I am also interested in DVEous' view of the stop loss.

Please enlighten us DVEous and give us reasons for your view.
