My subconscious sentiment would agree entirely with your post so it is good to hear your view to solidify theses.
Perhaps only to add that my instints tell me that management has a lot of opportunities to perhaps sway the decision process in everyone’s favour by unofficially helping or softening there short term approach. Instead of pointing out that the appropriate ministers have made a mistake, help them get out of the situation they have put themselfs and others in, in a proactive fashion for the good of all.
