My guess: inflation lower therefore interest rates may go down, therefore A$ went weaker, therefore foreigners/speculators sold ASX index to avoid forex losses.
Makes perfect sense, except that WPL profits should improve with weaker A$, so us local holders got to buy improved profits for less. Bargain!
