The problem with one big special dividends to allow the majors to exist out be as it may for tax advantage rather than taking the dividends is:
when finally the dust settles the SP returns to the levels before Special dividends paid (refer to JRL) - frankly as a long term holder I don't believe in short term gains; to the contrary long term strategy to have a the SP returning to trend (trading well above $2.50 is a better strategy.
That said even I am getting tired of waiting patiently.
I just don't understand why they did not take advantage of relatively low prices in the recent weeks If they still keen to reduce the Market Cap to 150 mil??
More importantly the longer they take to buy back the higher the price they need to pay to complete the buy back. which makes no real sense to me.
the long and short of it is returning to dividends must be considered in any case now as they clearly missed out on buying back 1.5% of the company.
