Please see article below from The Austalian...This to me seems like an absolute no brainer...if the licences come then the price will surge and I will make money...it seems so simple and straightforward..am I missing something here? Why isnt everyone jumping in and buying these?

"AS of this evening Kingsgate Consolidated chief executive Gavin Thomas was on a plane bound for Thailand.

Sitting neatly in his back pocket was close to $70 million after Kingsgate parted with its stake in Andean Resources this week.

Now, Kingsgate's issues in Thailand are well documented. It is hanging on an approval by the Thai government to grant it some leases on the northern edge of its Chatree gold mine.

And it's been waiting for a while as the company consumes more and more lower grade ore.

Don't think for one second that the sale of the Andean stake has anything to do with cashflow problems at Kingsgate. Thomas is adamant that the decision to sell was entirely due to the good price for Andean scrip.

The stake was built during last year's failed takeover play in which Andean held out against a scrip offer from Kingsgate. Andean's key project is the Cerro Negro mine in Argentinian.

Thomas reckons the bucks will go to paying off debt and Kingsgate can use the money better developing its Thai assets.

But that depends largely on the granting of the leases. Thomas has always remained very positive that the decision would be favourable and would be made before the Thai general election two days before Christmas, but adds there is no point trying to push the Thai authorities into action.

Should that happen, look out. Given that Kingsgate is the second-largest Australian investor in Thailand it should be a reasonable assumption that it would get a favourable outcome.

The word is that there is a queue of potential suitors willing to make a play for Kingsgate if the approvals are granted. The northern leases are very lucrative and with the gold price going gangbusters, consolidation in the sector is inevitable.

One broker even went as far to predict that the share price of Kingsgate would triple within a week after the granting of access to the leases.

It would be very hard to turn back the suitors as well, but it would be expected that Kingsgate would drive a very hard auction process should the board decide to go down that route".
