Pakistan will get $79 million from Australia in Aid in 2014-15, for what sounds like some much needed health and education programs.

However, a senior Pakistani official recently told Jane's Defence Weekly that the country is likely to purchase 6 new submarines from China. (I'd guess for several billion dollars)

Pakistan also manufactures jet fighters and heavy main battle tanks, for itself and export.

If countries can afford to buy such weapons do they really need any Aid from Australia for health and education programs etc?
