Nothing wrong with taking some profits... in fact very smart to do so depending on the circumstances.

I'm not interested in specifics pete but what do you plan to do with the money instead?

Interest rates are looking like having to be dropped dramatically before the end of next year if the bond market is to be believed so money in the bank will likely be doing nothing at best to going backwards with inflation at the second option. Option 3 is If a big drawdown like that comes it will likely be at the cost of the financial system, meaning likely that a bank or two will be in serious trouble, i know Australian accounts are covered by gov up until 120k (might be 125k I cant remember off the top of my head).

Property is still way above the mean despite the recent falls so if there is a black swan that wont be immune.

Having listened and watched a lot of the same sort of interviews you are eluding too which prophesize doom and gloom such as a break down of fiat currencies I've come to the conclusion that if i own some shares of a company and particularly one that produces gold that it might be better than a lot of other options. Possibly other than owning Physical which I don't have the storage to do.

Anyway always interested to here others thoughts.
