This was discussed as a possible progression when the 40nm was developed but I believe the co. decided that it wasn't a priority or even necessary given their commercial goals. I remember an interviewer asking if 7nm was a possibility and Coby simply said that the tech lent itself to being scaled to smaller geometries. Scalability has always been emphasised in presentations and I get the impression its more of an engineering problem to reduce the size.
This is one of the "problems" WBT has. There are so many avenues of R&D that could be pursued. However the neuromorphic chips, System on a Chip etc are on the back burner till revenue streams are established and then look out. IMO
