Someone once asked me on here why I hand draw charts which I answered. Thought I would take a second to answer why particularly point and figure charts which are the x and o on the chart for those who don't know.

Basically each square is worth a value you determine in case of my us PLL chart $1 per square.

I use a 1*3 box method. What this means is when the price goes up $1 I plot an X when it goes down $1 I plot an O
However if the price is going up and it only reverses less than $3 nothing is plotted. For the column to switch there must be a move of $3 or more. This can happen the next day.

WHY I LIKE it is it removes the noise of sideways movement somewhat and captures the volatility.
Note in the whole time I've been plotting PLL it has only maybe in 5 occasions maximum had nothing to plot the next day. Ie didn't move more than $1 so it definitely has a pulse.
