wasn't it mentioned somewhere (I can't recall where) that the short position is only in place as the shares are being used as security (for something a rather) so the short position is in place for added lender security.
could be completely wrong there, someone may be able to clarify?
either way, I think people shouting it's the shorts is probably a cop out as GMD does seem overvalued IMO and we're just going through the process of realising it's true value. (where that lies I have no idea...)
