Shadow Water Minister Perin Davey discusses the “scary” proposition of the RBA lifting interest rates.
Judo Bank Chief Economic Adviser Warren Hogan reveals his “unfortunate” forecast for interest rates this year.
Mr Hogan believes the RBA may be forced to lift interest rates as high as five per cent by the end of the year.
“It looks like this strategy of us having a lower cash rate than the rest of the world … it’s not playing out,” he told Sky News Australia.
“It just looks like we haven’t got the cash rate at the right level to get this cost-of-living pressure down and this inflation out of our economy.
“So, it’s just a reality.”
