I think you're cherry picking TB, they are completely different markets anyway. To obtain an Am Ex Platinum card you need to be a high income earner, in which case you are more likely to take advantage of the other benefits as well as be less likely to be scraping around to make your minimum monthly payment each month. Added to which, as a ZIP card holder with limited means, the fees you can be charged for a very modest credit limit are proportionately much higher than the fees charged on cards with much bigger balances.
