Personally, I don't worry too much about retail spending. ZIP isn't at saturation point like Walmart; what ZIP needs is a larger and cheaper source of funds so it can capture another 2% of the addressable U.S. market, if it can do this it could once again become a $4 billion company within 18~24 months. However, if the cost of money rises and ZIP is unable to expand due to higher charges, causing consumers to select existing credit cards or other BNPL vendors, then $1.34 will seem expensive.
