I've seen them bringing up BNPL "phantom debt" on CNBC for the last 2 days in a row and asking about regulation for BNPL to start reporting debt to credit bureaus.
They are really pushing this "phantom debt" story in the US media right now. I think something will be done about it soon. Regulations might be needed.
Anyone that thinks I'm "downramping", just google "phantom debt bnpl" and you'll see a ton of results this week. The story is everywhere this week.
