They already do credit checks and they will be required to only make general background checks to ensure that the lending is 'not unsuitable', not like the highly prescriptive methods used in personal lending. However, using that argument would seem to put a brake on lending and have the BNPL business act as a quasi regulator, preventing the issue of credit. Is that what you intended to mean?
