Imagine how the retailers and merchants feel about paying an average 3.5% to BNPL operators in addition to 3.5% swipe fees. No wonder the RBA in Australia seems committed to changing BNPL in built price setting if it sees that the industry won't tip over in response. The bank knows and acknowledges that BNPL fills a spot for people who can't otherwise get credit
