They live and breathe credit which is their whole existence, along with the poles, wires and networks they have built up. If BNPL becomes a nuisance to their business model, they have the capital and infrastructure to do whatever it takes and most of them (inc. Visa, MC and AmEx) already have BNPL programs which they offer to merchants anyway. I think it will be hard for undercapitalised ZIP to compete and it has identified 'underserved' Americans who cannot get credit as the target market. Presumably that's also where the big $ fees are
