I think you need to be a bit more realistic here the comment was regarding people who could not afford to buy a house now, the politicians remark was because of a very minor cut they can now afford to buy

If the rate goes up to 7 % in three years how is someone on a minimal wage (they can't afford to buy a house) going to earn enough to pay the extra mortgage
