The Smiles Inclusive saga has a familiar ring to people involved in the former Southport-based Dental Partners……..
Mr Timoney then founded dental consolidation group Dental Partners with colleague David Garofalo. ……..
The following year Abano Healthcare, which in 2008 had bought 70 per cent of Dental Partners for $14.04 million, bought full control of the business.
Mr Timoney stayed on as CEO with an annual package worth $384,852, but in January, 2013 he was called to a board meeting and sacked.
He ended up suing Dental Partners, alleging misleading and deceptive conduct by the Dental Partners’ chairman and Abano managing director Alan Clarke…..
“My litigation at least presents the facts in public so that my 1000 staff can form their own opinions about my dismissal.”
Observation:“so that my 1000 staff”
Seems to me that Mr Timoney is not accepting that he had sold the company on, - they are not his staff if Abano had bought out the company 100%.
Ex-Smiles Inclusive exec Sean Connolly sues Gold Coast dental group for breach of contractAlister Thomson, Gold Coast Bulletin

Excerpt from article:Mr Connolly claimed that in January last year he and then-CEO Mike Timoney agreed to amend the original contract to include the 0.5 per cent commission on the sale price of clinics.
“Mr Timoney said that he ran the company and the board would agree to what he said,” the claim reads.
Observation:“the board would agree to what he said”
What about good governance, transparency and discussion with the board prior to discussing this with the employee??
Mr. Timoney has now been sacked from two different companies that, admittedly he was part of the creation of, or started, and it would appear that nearly every board member Mr. Timoney came into contact with, in those businesses, allegedly had misleading and deceptive conduct and/or are renegades?
I see a common thread/denominator appearing.
