CEA Signs MoUs On Environmental Protection The Central Environment Authority (CEA) is to give priority to environmental protection with the implementation of two projects aimed at it.
The CEA has signed two Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) with the Peradeniya University and with the Sir John Kotalawela Defence Academy (SJKDA) to implement the two projects.
CEA Chairman Charitha Herath has told the media that under the MoU, Peradeniya University would conduct several programmes related to environmental protection including research on environment development, data gathering and analysis, environment management, planning and exchange of laboratory facilities.
The MoU with the SJKDA would see the launching of a novel ?Pilisaru? programme tailored to meet the needs of the defence academy in solid waste management.
?We expect to run the two programmes as a pilot project using latest technology and equipment. The two premier universities will carry out their environment projects on an experimental level to be used at national level,? Herath has said.
