Rudd's socialist package includes a plan to build 20,000 new public houses for the very poor who contribute nothing to long term economic growth.

As an extra thank you he will he will give them another handout of $950 to spend on booze, cigarettes and pokies.

20,000 houses nobody really wants to live in. Just creating another Rosemeadow type suburb with high crime. Will cost the economy more money down the line in extra police forces.

Where will they find this extra land? I thought there was some sort of land crisis which is keeping property prices at way overinflated levels.

If they got the land why not just build 20,000 regular houses/apartment blocks and let property investors buy them?

Please, someone explain to me the logic of Rudd's move. I must be missing something.

Boosting first home buyers grant, free insulation, no new houses built....Rudd seems frightened of bursting the property bubble, helping to keep it artificially inflated.

Yet then he tells people not to ask for a wage increase.
