LENR as in cold fusion? If the hypothetical technology was a reality we wouldn't be worrying about any other form of electricity production and we'd have a reduced need for oil. I don't really need to describe that, surely. Obviously no one has developed the technology to any remotely practical state. Whether or not it's possible is debatable. Worth trying, but don't get your hopes up (it would smash the price of oil and wipe AEB out by the way).
What have I said which is a smear? I'm just being rational while everyone else seems to be jumping up and down getting excited about unrealistic expectations.
The fact is, oil fuels the world and supplies us with our materials. Next to air and water it is our most critical resource.
