"The matter was clarified three weeks ago with the results of the Extension Study of VIR201. In this study 25 patients from the Safety Trial agreed to continue with a twentyweek extension. They were given a further injection of the trial medications and then stopped taking their anti retroviral drugs. Participants no longer taking HIV suppressing drugs would expect that their levels of HIV would increase to measurable levels. Thus the viral load could be measured to give a direct measure of the response to VIR201."
