The real reason for the delay in moving the lives of indigenous people forward is due to the fantasy created by academics and their cretin followers that the indigenous people should be left to follow their free, nomadic way from the evil influences of modern society. Both parties were persuaded to adopt this philosphy with obvious disastrous consequences (The Libs being persuaded to follow this line by Fraser and his 'soft' liberal cohorts).

Some in the aboriginal community took advantage of this lack of discipline and oversight inherent in this approch, at the expense of the aboriginal community at large. Clarke was an obvious example of this. Others such as those in Aboriginal Welfare Lobby, booze providers etc also benefited form this archaic approach to Aboriginal welfare.

We must discard this discredited approach so the people can move ahead and be part of modern society. If you remaim static you will inevitably be left behind and be discarded into the waste bin of history.
