i wouldn't exactly call housing a finite resource, but I do get your point..
however looking at the chart below... Even accounting for now we live in a worldwide economy, immigration, more women in the workforce etc.... I still wouldn't call these a healthy chart. Due to the above factors yes the line wouldn't most likely "return to the mean". However I believe it will try.
